Vitamin C is a natural essential dietary supplement that aids the body in maintaining the following functions:

Each capsule contains the following as active ingredients:

Inactive ingredients: Hypromellose (cellulose) vegetarian capsule shell (gelatine free), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate (vegetarian – flow agent), magnesium silicate, silicon dioxide and colloidal silicon dioxide. Contains plant extracts and natural fillers, with no colourants added – therefore the colour of the capsule contents may vary slightly from batch to batch.
Store in a cool dry place below 25°C. Keep out of the reach of children.
Ascorbyl palmitate is an oil soluble vitamin C prepared from ascorbic acid with palmitic acid. Since this form of vitamin C is fat soluble it is stored in the lipid cell membrane until the body is ready to put it to use, therefore extending its availability to the cells unlike the water soluble form and improving penetration of the cell membrane. Vitamin C has several physiological functions. It is involved in tyrosine metabolism and is a cofactor in the synthesis of carnitine, thyroxine, norepinephrine, dopamine, and tryptophan. Vitamin C is also involved in a variety of metabolic processes including oxidation-reduction reactions and cellular respiration, carbohydrate metabolism, synthesis of lipids and proteins, catabolism of cholesterol to bile acids, conversion of folic acid to folinic acid, and iron metabolism. Vitamin C is best known for its effects as an antioxidants and its role in maintaining proper immune function.
Adult and children over 12 years dosage: Take 3 capsules daily, with or after meals, or as advised by your health care provider.
Children 7-12 years of age: Take 2 capsules daily.
Children 4-7 years of age: Take 1 capsule daily
Do not exceed recommended dosages unless on the advice of a health care provider. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. If you are on any medication or suffering from any medical condition, it is advisable to seek medical advice before starting any new medicine, supplement or remedy.
Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, esophagitis, heartburn, abdominal cramps, gastrointestinal obstruction, fatigue, flushing, headache, insomnia, sleepiness, and diarrhoea.
Do not use vitamin C if you have hemochromatosis, thalassemia, sideroblastic anemia, sickle cell anemia, or erythrocyte glucose-6-phospate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
You could experience iron overload if you have one of the above conditions and use large amounts of vitamin C concomitantly.
Aspirin: Vitamin C may increase the blood levels and adverse effects of aspirin.
Paracetamol: Elimination can be slightly reduced.
Warfarin: Vitamin C may interfere with the blood thinning effects of warfarin and should be used with caution.
Furosemide: Increases loss of vitamin C from the body probably due to increased water loss.
Estrogens: In both oral contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy may decrease levels of Vitamin C.
Proton pump inhibitors: Evidence suggests that omeprazole and other proton pump inhibitors reduce vitamin C levels.
Nicotine and smoking: Smokers have lower plasma levels of vitamin C than non-smokers with similar dietary intake of vitamin C.
Vitamin C can increase the amount of aluminium absorbed from aluminium containing products.
Individuals undergoing chemotherapy should consult their oncologist before using high doses of vitamin C.
Vitamin C can moderately reduce indinavir levels in the blood.
People with a history of oxalate kidney stones should not exceed 1000mg per day.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Vitamin C is safe to use at the recommended doses during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
